Unfortunately, the Net Science Academy will not be able to offer services or products for the 2009-2010 school year. It has become clear that, due to demands on my schedule at this time, a 2009 launch date is unrealistic. My plan is that the textbook and other materials will be ready by the summer of 2010. Please feel free to use the sample chapters that are already posted. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Sincerely,
William Green

Click on the image below for a sample chapter in MS Word format. More samples are coming soon!

I converted the file to Word 97-2003 from Word 2007. Some formatting may have been lost. If so, you may view the chapter as a pdf by clicking here. You can also download the Word 2007 version here.

Since ancient times man has been increasing his mastery over nature, and this mastery has reached its highest point of refinement in the discipline of chemistry. From the smelting of metals to the splitting of the atom, the science and art of chemistry has progressed by a combination of the diligent labor and flashes of insight of remarkable individuals, and it has been inextricably linked with the progress of civilization.
The Net Science Academy exists to support homeschoolers who wish to better understand this story and experience it for themselves. It is for students who wish to partake of the mastery of the elements while building their skills in reasoning and mathematics.
The Net Science Academy is a challenging and innovative high school chemistry program with an emphasis on depth of thought and understanding, historical perspective, and logical and mathematical reasoning. The Academy offers the opportunity for an authentic laboratory experience through lab kit rentals and lab instruction videos.
The program also offers a textbook and test bank, lecture videos, one-on-one tutoring, and personalized grading services. The student can choose any or all of the program offerings.
It is administered by Dr. William Green, Ph.D., an experienced high school chemistry teacher and Christian homeschooling father who knows the value of independent learning. He also knows that true learning takes place in the context of solving real problems, that a quality education must be truly challenging, and that an authentic laboratory experience is essential to a high quality chemistry education.
